Wega Ariba Wiel

The Wega Ariba Wiel Mobiel (WAW Mobiel) is a community program developed by CEDE ARUBA-BARiO UNiCO to make sports, play, and learning activities more accessible to children in neighborhoods across Aruba. The initiative was based on findings from the Dutch organization Jantje Beton, which identified that many playgrounds on the island were not well maintained, not always safe, and not easily accessible.

To address this issue, CEDE ARUBA introduced the idea of a mobile unit equipped with educational, recreational, and sports materials. This approach allows children to participate in safe and structured activities within their own neighborhoods. IBiSA later joined the project to provide expertise in sports and recreation, while FCCA supports neighborhood selection, community engagement, and family participation. The Korps Politie Aruba (KPA) contributes by maintaining safety and strengthening relationships between police and residents.

Since its official launch in September 2023, WAW Mobiel has visited several neighborhoods, including Village, Cura Cabai Zuid, Bushiri, and Eagle Beach. Through these visits, the program continues to promote movement, learning, and social interaction among children, while encouraging stronger community connections.

Vision

WAW Mobiel wants every child in Aruba to have a safe and fun place to play, move, and be active in their own neighborhood

Mission

Our mission is to bring play and sports directly to neighborhoods, especially where children have fewer opportunities, so that they can grow healthy, active, and socially connected.
