Our Mission
The Centro di Bario Santa Cruz aims to promote the well-being of the residents of Santa Cruz, especially the vulnerable ones who are at risk of social isolation due to, for example, immobility or poverty. To this end, the Centro di Bario stimulates the contacts within the community by organizing, facilitating, and supervising sports, recreational, educational, and cultural activities which are accessible to everyone.
Everyone -regardless of race, political affiliation, sexual orientation religions or otherwise- is welcome.
Our vision
Centro di Bario Santa Cruz is ‘home’ to everyone. We would like to give our residents a sense of belonging. Everyone is welcome, especially the residents of Santa Cruz. We love and encourage working together. We welcome and support neighborhood and grassroots initiatives related to social, cultural, educational, and sports activities within our community.
Our Story
The Stichting Centro di Bario Santa Cruz, also known as the Neighborhood Center Santa Cruz Foundation, was established on March 6, 2017, by a group of residents from the District of Santa Cruz. The aim was to create a meeting place where the young and the young at heart could meet, feel at home, and participate in different sports and other social, cultural, and educational activities.
The district of Santa Cruz, also home of the National Park Arikok, is centrally located in Aruba. It consists of six zones, namely Urataca, Papilon, Macuarima, Hooiberg, Cashero and Balashi and various neighborhoods. As strange as it may sound, Santa Cruz is the only district in Aruba that did not have a neighborhood center until a few years ago.
Santa Cruz is seen as an important cultural region. All national holidays are celebrated with a lot of passion and love for Aruba. Santa Cruz also plays an important role in sports such as football, basketball, and baseball.
Centro di Bario Santa Cruz hopes to make a positive contribution within the community of Santa Cruz. Plans are being made with different stakeholders to promote the general well-being of the neighborhood.
